Thelma Elizabeth Preston Rayner

— Services for Thelma Elizabeth Preston Rayner will be at 11 a.m., on Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church. The Rev. Henry Walden will be officiating. Internment will be at Peaceful Rest Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Matthew Preston, Roosevelt Preston, Alvin Walden, Kalvin Preston, Jason Preston and Napoleon Rayner. Rayner was the daughter to Irene Preston and the late Roosevelt Preston and was married to Clinton Rayner, Sr. She earned an Associate’s Degree in Education and a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. In 2007, she retired as a banker. Rayner was a member at Jesus Christ Outreach Center in Ft. Myers, Fla. Survivors include mother, Irene P. Loggins; husband, Clinton Rayner, Sr.; son, Clinton Rayner, Sr.; sisters, Louise Burney and Laura Scurry; brothers, Matthew Preston (Carol), Kalvin Preston (Sheryl) and Roosevelt Preston; mother-in-law, Alberta Powell; father-in-law, Walter Rayner (Ella); sisters-in-law, Eatha Martin and Carolyn Rayner; brothers-in-law, Napoleon Rayner (Maria), Darrick Rayner (Madeline) and Chad Rayner (Phyllis); aunt, Queen Brown; uncle, Roosevelt Holton; grandchildren, Mariah Rayner, Trenton Rayner, Noel Rayner and Joseph Lann Rayner; goddaughter, Ashley Walker; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends. Visitation will be on Friday, April 4, 2014, from 9 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home and also from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, South Pinetree Blvd. The remains will lie instate at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral hour with no viewing after the eulogy.—Hatcher- Peoples Funeral Home
