William L. “Bill” Wood, Sr.


Graveside services for William L. “Bill” Wood, Sr. of Thomasville were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2013 at 10th Street, Laurel Hill Cemetery in Thomasville.  Rev. Dr. Don Prevatt officiated services with interment immediately following.  Mr. Wood was born on December 29, 1917 in Colquitt Co. to the late Thomas J. Wood and Martha Jones Wood.  He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during World War II.  Mr. Wood married Mrs. Jewell Parrish Wood, who survives, on November 16, 1946.  He departed this life on Monday, December 31, 2012 at Camellia Gardens of Life Care in Thomasville.  Survivors to cherish his memory include his wife Jewell P. Wood of Thomasville; daughter Joanne Bishop of of Pine Park; daughter-in-law Jo S. Wood of Thomasville; 3 granddaughters Melissa Wood, Emily Maxwell and Lynn Bennett; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son William L.
