Rapuel Miles


THOMASVILLE — Services for Rapuel (Ray-P) Miles are at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Good Shepherd Word of Deliverance, 709 Oak St., Thomasville. The Rev. Willie Mitchell, pastor officiating. Mr. Miles died Saturday,  March 22 following surgery in Augusta. Mr. Miles attended St. Jude Educational Institute in Montgomery, Ala., where he played the trombone in the band and played basketball and football. He also earned a football scholarship to Morehouse College. He was a creative person that enjoyed drawing, poetry, cooking and he loved eating. He loved discussing the Bible, watching sports and was an excellent and strategic Scrabble player. Survivors include his wife, Murdies Powell Miles of Thomasville; a daughter, Adriena Marie Long; brothers, Laquira (Valeria) Miles, David Z. Miles, Robert Miles; sisters, Bernadette Phifer, Jane (Sam) Graddy, Margaret Miles; and numerous relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Hazel Miles. Family and friends are asked to assemble at 10 a.m., at 1244 Dixie Chastain Rd., Ochlocknee for the processional. The viewing is from 1 to 8 p.m., today at the funeral home. — Hadley’s Funeral Home
