Nina Watson Grimes

Funeral services for Nina Watson Grimes, 78, of Whigham, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 21, 2013, at El Bethel Baptist Church, Whigham, GA.  Rev. Bob Knight will officiate.  Services will conclude at the church.  Private interment will be in Providence Cemetery, Whigham, GA.  Mrs. Grimes passed away at her home in Whigham, GA, on Wednesday, December 18, 2013.  Active pallbearers will be:  Mickey Green, Bobby Jones, Doug Marchant, Jerry Pritchett, Earl Stuckey, Wayne Johnson, Mike Adams and John Ulmer.  Honorary pallbearers will be ushers of El Bethel Baptist Church.  Mrs. Grimes was born on January 9, 1935, in White Sulphur Springs, WV, to the late Harold Watson and Anna Hefner Watson.  On February 24, 1956, she married Robert Lee Grimes, who preceded her in death on September 3, 2011.  After her retirement as a bookkeeper, she volunteered with hospice for 15 years.  She was a member of El Bethel Baptist Church in Whigham, GA.  Her interests included painting in oil and acrylics, cross stitching, crochet, and knitting.  She believed strongly in education having graduated from Thomas University.  She was an avid gardener and a crack shot with her rifle.  She had the best laugh.  Survivors include:  daughter, Cathy Marchant (Craig) of Thomasville, GA; son, David Curtis Grimes of Whigham, GA; grandchildren, Robert Jones, III, (Adrianne) of Valdosta, GA, Douglas Marchant of Thomasville, GA, Amanda Grimes of Baconton, GA; Kristen O’Neal, Jr. (Boyd “Bo) of Albany, GA; and great-grandchildren, Boyd O’Neal III, of Albany, GA, Kayleigh and Kiersten Jones of Valdosta, GA, Evelyn Cate O’Neal of Albany, GA; sister, Gail Rexrode of Bluefield, WV; and a brother, Lanty Watson of White Sulphur Springs, WV.  She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.  Memorials may be made in Mrs. Grimes’s memory to:  Vashti Center, 1815 E.
