Freddie Max Horne

THOMASVILLE — Funeral services for Freddie Max Horne, 76, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at Gordon Height Baptist Church, Cairo, GA.  Rev. John Paul Hasick will officiate.  Private interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Quitman, GA.  Mr. Horne passed away at Archbold Memorial Hospital, Thomasville, GA, on January 19, 2014.  Active pallbearers will be Dave Mitchell, Billy Moore, Bartley Nugent, Chester Brown, Steve Reagan and Richard Cooper.  Honorary pallbearers will be James Jenkins, Richard Wade and Buford Shepard.  Mr. Horne was born on January 27, 1937, in Moultrie, GA, to the late William Kirby Horne and Velma Goff Horne.  On September 11, 1959, he married Allene Spell Horne, who survives.  He worked with Colonial Stores in Quitman, GA and Tallahassee, FL.  Max retired as sales manager from the Pepsi Cola Bottling Company in Bainbridge in 1998.  He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed working in his yard.  He was a member of Gordon Heights Baptist Church, Cairo, GA.  Survivors include: his wife of 54 years, Allene Spell Horne; son, Buddy Horne of Burke, VA; daughter, Marsha Horne Mercer of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Danielle Horne of High Point, NC, Taylor Horne of Burke, VA, Wesley Mercer of Cairo, GA, Paige Mercer of Cairo, GA; brothers, Russell Horne of Quincy, FL, Raymond Horne (Bonnie) of Marianna, FL; special friends, Charles and Mary Burch of Bainbridge GA; his many friends from Lake Talquin Lodge; and his cat, Cookie.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth Horne.  The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.  Guests may sign the online register at www.clarkfuneral.com. — Clark Funeral Home
