Linda H. Huckeba

Linda H. Huckeba, 68, of Cape Coral, Fla., died Jan. 24, 2014, at her home. She was born in Pavo, Ga., in 1945, to J.D. and Louise Huddleston. Linda graduated from Thomasville High School and  married John Huckeba in 1963 in Boston, Ga. She lived in Thomasville for many years before moving to Cape Coral in 1980.  She attended Edison College in Ft. Myers, Fla. Linda was a homemaker and a professional seamstress who had a passion for writing. She will be remembered as a loving daughter, sister and mother. She was a devoted grandmother and dear friend to many. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, John Huckeba, of Cape Coral; two daughters, Cara (Mark) Singletary of Cape Coral, Melinda (Gary) Jett of Cartersville, Ga.; one son, John Daniel Huckeba, of Cape Coral; two brothers, David M. (Helen) Huddleston, of Thomasville, Ga., and Dr. Gene Keith (Victoria) Huddleston, of Maitland, Fla.; one sister-in-law, Betty Huddleston of Stone Mountains, Ga.; and seven grandchildren, Amanda, Alyssa and Natalie Singletary, James Huckeba, Amy Jett and husband, Rian Stanga, Andrew and Ally Jett, and her lifelong best friend, Elizabeth Stubbs Prance. Linda was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Carissa Huckeba; and two brothers. James D. Huddleston III, and Gordon M. Huddleston. A celebration of Linda's life will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 29. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., with the service at 2 p.m. at Fuller Metz Funeral Home, 3740 Del Prado Blvd. S., Cape Coral, Fla.
