THOMASVILLE — Services for Dottie Ree Strickland Gardner, 96, of Moultrie, are at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Eddie Dee officiating. Interment follows in Big Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers are Timmy Burgess, Derek Burgess, Brian Gardner, Mike Benton, Drew Duren and Jerry Benton. Mrs. Gardner died Monday, April 14, 2014 at Agape Health and Rehabilitation. Born Nov. 3, 1917, in Moultrie, she was the daughter of the late Richard Strickland and Carrie Tillman Strickland. She was a homemaker and a member of Big Creek Baptist Church. She was an avid gardener who has passed on her passion for gardening to her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delma Council Gardner; one grandson, Pate Duren; nine brothers and sisters. Survivors include three daughters, Joyce Benton of Moultrie, Latrelle Duren Burkholder of Valdosta and Faye Bryant and husband Wayne of Moultrie; one son, Johnny Gardner and wife Betty of Valdosta; 12 grandchildren, Mark Benton and wife Susan, Gail Edwards and husband Richard, Mike Benton and wife Cissy, Lynne Hester, Patti Everett and husband Steve, Timmy Burgess, Derek Burgess and wife Brandi, Michelle Burgess and fiancée Andrew Beaty and Brian Gardner, Jennifer Bryant, Tim Bryant and wife Candace; 23 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service on Wednesday at the funeral home chapel. The family may be contacted at the home of Joyce Benton, 1804 4th St., S.E., Moultrie.
