James Ronald Adams

THOMASVILLE — Services for James Ronald Adams, of Cairo, are at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home Chapel. Interment follows in Ochlocknee City Cemetery. Pallbearers are Rex Martin, Tyler Humphrey, Todd McCardel, Jerome Barnes, James Adams and Otis Lee Boyette. Mr. Adams died April 21, at his residence. Born May 31, 1941, in Grady County, Ga., he was a son of the late Jessie Earl Adams and Ethel Leona Rayfield Adams. He was married to Ethel Laverne Adams. He was a truck driver /mechanic for Grady Tractor. He served in the United States Army, leader of the Southern Blue Grass Band and a member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Cairo. Survivors include his wife, Ethel Laverne Adams of Cairo; sons, James Timothy Adams of Quitman, William Mack Adams of Thomasville, Charles Clinton Adams (Tracy) of Cairo; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Myrtle Louise Laster of Quitman, Edna Pearl Cox of Cairo, Bernice Lasseter of Lloyd, Fla., Lunette Boyette of Bainbridge, Mildred Steward of Berwick, Penn., Mary Helen McCardel of Quitman and Jerry Adams of Murphy, N.C. He was preceded in death by son, Steven Earl Adams; sisters, Annie Mae Adams, Geraldine Barnes Poole; and brothers, Ernest Adams, Herman Adams and Jesse Earl Adams.
