Grace Juanita McCurdy

THOMASVILLE — Services for Grace Juanita McCurdy, 86, of Thomasville are at noon, Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Mike Allan will officiate and interment is in Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, Ga. Mrs. McCurdy “went home to be with the Lord” May 8, 2014 at her residence. Born June 24, 1927, Piedmont, Ala., she was the daughter of the late Joseph T. Livingston  and Lulu Phelps Livingston. She was married to First Sergeant Maurice VanSant McCurdy on May 25, 1946, in Piedmont, Ala., who preceded in death on July 15, 2013. She was a homemaker for 67 years, active in the Red Cross and a “very faithful member of Morrow First Baptist Church”. Survivors include daughters, Brenda McCurdy Dotson (Dean) of Thomasville, Kay McCurdy Chance (Lamar)  of Atlanta; Maurice VanSant McCurdy, Jr. (Kristy) of Ellenwood; grandchildren,          Robby Dotson (Hope), Randy Dotson (Donna), Reggie Dotson (Mandy), Amy Renfroe, Beth Chance King (Patrick), Trey McCurdy; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Ann McCurdy; nine brothers; and two sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Research either by by phone at 1.800.272.3900 or donate by mail by sending a check to: Alzheimer's Association P.O. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon before the service on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the funeral home.
