Robert E. (Bob) Miller

THOMASVILLE — Robert E. (Bob) Miller, 79, of Albany, died early Wednesday morning, May 7, 2014, at Willson Hospice House. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, May 9, 2014, at 6 p.m. at the chapel of Mathews Funeral Home. The Rev. Bobby Moye will officiate.  Interment will be at 11 a.m. the following morning, May 10, 2014, at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Thomasville, with the Rev. Caleb Miller officiating. He was raised in Ochlocknee by his grandmother Zeigler and his Uncle Son. Mr. Miller was a graduate of Ochlocknee High School and enlisted in the Army in 1952. Bob came back from the Korean Conflict and became a paratrooper. In 1955, he went to work for Southern Bell/AT&T and retired in 1996, after 41 years of service. Mr. Miller was a member of Radium Springs Baptist Church and American Legion Post 30. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Miller, of Albany; a son, David Miller and his wife, Debbie, of Decatur, Ala.; a daughter, Selina Joy Bentley and her husband, Alton, of Albany; grandchildren, Josh Miller and his wife, Brooke, of Birmingham, Ala., the Rev. Caleb Miller and his wife, Amy, of McBee, S.C., Brooks Johnson and her, husband, B.L., of Thomson, Curry Bentley, of Albany; and great-grandson, Pierce Johnson, of Thomson. Other close family members include Marilyn Long, of Boston, and Marjorie Matthews, of Cairo. The family will receive friends after the celebration of life at 6 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
