Sarabelle Montford Pipkin age 95, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at The Baptist  Village in Waycross, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Pierce Montford, a pharmacist, and Claudia Copeland Montford. She was born in Metcalf and grew up in Thomasville, Georgia, where she was a member of First Methodist Church.  After graduation from Thomasville High School, she earned the A.B. degree from GSCW (now Georgia College and State University,) and the Master of Religious Education from the Southern Baptist Seminary's Carver School of Missions in Louisville, KY.  She was married to a Baptist minister, Julian T. Pipkin of Cairo. For seventy-two years was a devoted wife, mother, and an effective co-worker in Christian ministry. She was a life time teacher of youth and adults in Sunday School. She held leadership roles in women's mission work, including presidency of the  WMU in First Baptist Church, Decatur, where she served as an ordained  deacon. She also served as the president of Georgia Baptist Minister's Wives Conference.  She served as a seminar leader for many church and statewide conferences in the fields of youth work and the care of aging parents. A number of her articles were published in Home Life Magazine, Mature Living, and in the Baptist Village Voice.  Survivors include one daughter, Janet and William Crane of Camilla; three sons, Julian Thomas, Jr, and Lynn Pipkin of Tallahassee, FL; James and Marva Pipkin of Westminster, SC; and Richard W. and Gayle Pipkin of Gautier, MS; eight grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Billy Crane.  Services will be held at Barnett's Creek Baptist Church on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at 3:00 p.m.  Rev. Bobby Boswell and Rev. Waldo Woodcock will be officiating services. The family will receive friends on hour before the service at Barnett's Creek, interment following in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, Georgia.  Pallbearers will be John Chandler, Derrick Crosby, Mike Canzone, Jeff Pipkin, Brian Pipkin and Rick Pipkin.  Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
