Nancy Jean Hill

THOMASVILLE — Funeral services for Mrs.Nancy Jean Hill were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church in Philadelphia, Pa., with the Father Efren Esmilla officiating.  Interment followed in Northwood Cemetery in Philadelphia.  Family and friends served as pallbearers.  Mrs. Hill died Dec. 24, 2013, in Philadelphia. She was born March 11, 1930, in Bainbridge, Ga., to the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Brown, Sr.  She was a graduate of Washington High School in Cairo, Ga., and was a member of Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church in Philadelphia.  Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, John Wesley Hill, Sr., eight brothers and sisters, Arcenia Potts, Mattie Ruth Lester, Jessie Brown, Lewis Brown, Mary Lee Brown, Andrew Brown II, Edna Lee and Frank Brown.  She leaves to cherish her memories: her two sons, John Jr. (Santa) and Wallace; and a loving elder sister Essie Mae Harrison, Miami, Fla.; two special nieces/daughters, Brenda Downey, Richmond, Va., and Sandra (Tina) Metcalf, Cherry Hill, N.J.; a very special lifelong friend, Ann Williams; four grandchildren, Dwayne, Timika, David and Dione; and five great-grandchildren Dwayne Jr., Jordan, Kiah, Santa and Daniel; and a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends. — Powell Mortuary Services, Philadelphia, PA
