Wyman Weldon Lastinger

THOMASVILLE — Services for Wyman Weldon Lastinger, of Thomasville, are at 2 p.m. Monday, June 30, 2014, at Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Steve Brooks officiating. Interment is at New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Danny Kelley, Donald Bennett, Donald Bishop, Denny Sellers, Todd Milam and Forrest Sumner. Mr. Lastinger died Friday, June 27, 2014, at Archbold Medical Center. He was born March 20, 1938, in Colquitt County, to the late Maston Melgie Lastinger and the former Zuleika Alexia Autry. He was a 1956 graduate of Moultrie High School. Mr. Lastinger retired as chief forest ranger for the Georgia Forestry Commission. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1962. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Lastinger is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Lastinger, Thomasville; son, Mark Lastinger, Thomasville; daughter, Kim Lastinger McCray (Barry), Thomasville; stepson, Scott Cox, Thomasville; stepdaughter, Michelle Young, Valdosta; grandchildren, Megan Conway (Stephen), Blake Lastinger, Laura McCray, William McCray; stepgrandchildren, Annais Cox Rollins, Ivy Cox, Thomas Cox, Zachary Swank; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Newell Lastinger; and a sister, Lina Lastinger. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2014, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 N. Beauregard St., Alexandria, Va. 22311.
