Dean Marcus ‘Mark’ Benton

THOMASVILLE — Services for Dean Marcus “Mark” Benton, 61, of Pavo, are at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ben Edwards officiating. Interment follows in Big Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers are Seth Benton, Allen Edwards, Timmy Burgess, Bill Blaine, Austin Hamlin and Marcus Kennedy. Mrs. Benton died Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born Oct. 3, 1952, in Moultrie, he was the son of Joyce Gardner Benton and the late Jesse Cornelius “J.C.” Benton.  He was an insurance agent with American General, a produce dealer and was an avid fisherman. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Delma Gardner and Dottie Ree Strickland Gardner and Jesse Cornelius Benton and Leona Benton Collins. Survivors, in addition to his mother of Moultrie, include his wife, Susan Kennedy Benton of Pavo; one son, Jerry Benton and wife Jeanenne of Moultrie; one daughter, Sherri Stanfill and husband Chad of Panama City, Fla.; four grandchildren, Seth Benton, Nathan Benton, Jonathan Benton and Austin Hamlin; two sisters, Gail Edwards and husband Richard and Lynne Hester, all of Moultrie; one brother, Mike Benton and wife Cissy of Newborn, Ga.; a special aunt, Eunice Forehand of Alford, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. — Cobb Funeral Chapel
