Dr. Neil Gilbert Carn

Memorial services for Dr. Neil Gilbert Carn, 76, of Thomas County will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 19, 2014, at First United Methodist Church. Dr. Carn passed away at home on June 29, 2014. Born July 18, 1937, in Winter Haven, Fla., he was the son to the late Julius McCall and Gladys Pearl Frye Carn. On August 12, 1962, he married Bonnie Elizabeth Shuman Carn in Monticello, Fla. Dr. Carn was a veteran of the United State Navy, a member of the Golden K Kiwanis, and First United Methodist Church of Thomasville. He was a retired professor in Land Economics and Urban Affairs at Georgia State University. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Shuman Carn; daughters, Lea Elizabeth Carn Long of Ochlocknee and Laura Marie Carn Smith of Fayetteville, Ga.; and granddaughters, Jordan Marie Smith and Addison Joayn Smith; sister, Mary Carn Daly and brother, David Earl Carn, both of Ormond Beach, Fla.
