Lt. Col. (Ret.) William Jackson Hurst

THOMASVILLE — A graveside service with full military honors for Lt. Col. (Ret.) William Jackson Hurst, 76, are at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Ga. He passed away on July 14, at his home in Marietta.  Born in Cairo, Ga., William graduated from Ochlochnee High School in 1956 and received a bachelor’s degree from North Georgia College in 1961.  From the years of 1960-1980, William served his country in the U.S. Army and retired as a lieutenant colonel.  William has been a resident of Marietta since 1977 and is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Lenora Hurst.  He leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Anna from Berlin, Germany; his sister, Judy Hurst of Ochlochnee, a niece, Amy Henderson (Terry); and a nephew Albert Hurst, also from Ochlochnee.
