THOMASVILLE — Funeral services Harold Alexander Hester, 76, of Atlanta, formerly of Thomasville will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church.  Rev. Donald Walker, Pastor and officiating services with interment to follow at Peaceful Rest Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be family members and Deacons of New Jerusalem M.B. Church.  Mr. Harold Alexander Hester was born on June 27, 1937, in THomasville, GA to the late James “Jimmy” and Zeda Adams Hester.  At an early  age, Harold joined the St. Thomas A.M.E. CHurch and served until he left Thomasville to attend college.  Harold graduated from Douglass High School (1955) and attended Tennessee Agricultural and Industrial College in Nashville, TN.  He enlisted in the United States Army in 1960.  After his tenure in the United States Army, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia.  While residing in Atlanta, he was employed by Flowers Baking Company for a period of time.  He later worked for Frito-Lay for 28 years.  Harold also enjoyed being a carpenter.  Harold was called to rest on January 17, 2014.  He leaves to cherish his memory, two sons, Kenneth L. Hester and Eric J. Woods, both of Atlanta, ; one daughter, Gwenita L. Brown, three sisters, Carol Lundy, Thomasville, GA, Brenda H. Padgett, Dalton, GA, Kay Clark North (Stephen), Cincinnati, OH, six aunts, Hattie Carr, Cincinnati, OH, Annie (Melrose) Walden, Virginia (Christopher) Glenn, Alberta Hester, all of Thomasville, Barbara Robinson, Fayetteville, NC, Faye Brown, Leary, GA, two uncles, Charles Hester (Marguerite) Hester, St. Petersburg, FL, and Ronald Hester (Emma), Lithia Springs, GA, four granddaughters Nicole A. Hester, Patricia A. Hester, Jennah A. Gibson, and Erica Woods; one grandson, Tyree M. L. Brown; two great-grandchildren, MyKala Hester and Michael Hester; Doris Hester (mother of Kenneth, Eric and Gwenita); sister-in-law Carolyn Hester; special friend Shirley Hood of Atlanta, GA; Monique Crenshaw (like a daughter), close friends, Ruth Griggs, Tommy Lewis, Bobby Crowe, Hustenton Middlebrook, and Harold Marshall, all of Atlanta; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special and bonded friends.  The visitation will be on Friday, January 24, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and the remains will lie instate at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral hour with no viewing after the eulogy. — Hatcher-Peoples Funeral Home
