Liston D. Gerald, Sr.

THOMASVILLE — Funeral services for Liston D. Gerald, Sr., 74, of Camilla will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Union Baptist Church in Camilla.  Rev. Rufus Philips will officiate services with interment to follow at Peaceful Rest Cemetery in Thomasville.  Pallbearers will be Mr. Gerald’s nephews.  Mr. Gerald was born on April 16, 1939 in Mullins, SC to the late Catherine and Macco Gerald.  He attended public schools in Mullins, NC before going on to work as a Truck Driver.  On July 31, 1963 Mr. Gerald wed Ms. Jan Mickens in Camden, NJ who preceded him in death.  Mr. Gerald was a resident of Thomasville for 21 years and he departed this life on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at his home in Camilla.  Survivors to cherish his memory include his daughter Patricia A. Bryant of Bainbridge; son Mark A. Gerald of Camilla; grandsons Daniel L. Morris, Monte Houston, Jr. and Jordan L. Gerald all of Camden, NJ; granddaughter Earniesha C. Bryant of Bainbridge; sister Mary L. McClary of Paulsboro, NJ; daughter-in-law Ella Gerald of Albany; son-in-law Earnest Bryant, Jr. and a host of other relatives and friends.  He was in preceded in death a son, Liston D. Gerald, Jr. in 2004.  Visitation will be held on Friday, February 21, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  The remains will lie instate at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour. — Hatcher-Peoples Funeral Home
