Linda Gayle Walker Russell

Services for Linda Gayle Walker Russell of Cairo will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Bethlehem A.M.E. Church in Cairo.  Rev. Deborah Knight and Elder Jacqueline D. Smith will officiate with interment to follow at Crestview Cemetery in Cairo.  Active pallbearers will be members of the Cairo High School Class of 1971.  Honorary pallbearers will be her nieces, nephews and other members of the Cairo High School Class of 1971.  Ms. Russell was born in Cairo on September 18, 1952 to the late Johnny Walker and Lou Emma Mason.  She was a member of Bethlehem A.M.E. Church and a graduate of Cairo High School,  Class of 1971.  She married Mr. Willie D. Russell on November 17, 1979 and their union would continue until the time of his passing in 1996.  Ms. Russell was a lifetime resident of Cairo and she departed this life after an extended illness on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Pinewood Nursing Home in Whigham.  Survivors to cherish her memory include her sisters Mariah Sandra Hubbard of Hillside, NJ, Faye (Carl) Sanders of Jonesboro and Odessa Rutledge of Syracuse, NY; brothers Charles Smith (Elder Jacqueline), Albert Smith, Jr., Johnny Walker, Jr. all of Cairo and Lannis Walker of Syracuse, NY; cousin Doris Perry (Julius, Jr.) of Roswell; sisters-in-law Elizabeth Coakley (Albert) of Augusta, Ollie Gibson and Dorothy Mobley both of Whigham; brother-in-law Jerry Russell (Darlene) of Cairo; aunt Gladys Walker of Cairo and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. — Cloud Funeral Home
