Sara Pearce Crew

THOMASVILLE — Funeral services for Sara Pearce Crew, 89, of Smyrna, GA, formerly of Whigham, GA, will be at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, December 28, 2013, at the Whigham Baptist Church.  Rev. Harold Burrell will officiate.  Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Whigham, GA.  Mrs. Crew passed away on Monday, December 23, 2013, at Delmar Gardens Continuous Care in Smyrna, GA.  Active pallbearers will be Cecil Gibbs, Jet Cox, Jimmy Cox, Curt VanLandingham, Harrell King and Steve Akridge.  Mrs. Crew was born on July 17, 1924, in Macon, GA, to the late Floyd E. Pearce and Carrie Mae Hunter Pearce.   On June 15, 1952, she married W. Cecil Crew, who preceded her in death on March 4, 1999.  She was a member of the Cherokee Garden Club and the Whigham Baptist Church.  She was affectionately known as “Wuz” to her grandchildren.  Survivors include: daughters, Deborah Brown (William) of Roswell, GA, Charlotte Anderson of Lawrenceville, GA; son, Cecil Crew (Carol) of Lawrenceville, GA; grandchildren, Will Brown of Atlanta, GA, Ben Brown of Atlanta, GA, Catherine Brown of Roswell, GA, Christopher Brown (Kim) of Hanover, MA, Courtney Brown of Hull, MA, Harrison Strickland (Sarah) of Birmingham, AL, Lewis Strickland of Lawrenceville, GA, Byron Strickland of Lawrenceville, GA; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Crew of Whigham, GA, Anne Crew of Cairo, GA, Marlene Pearce of Cairo, GA; and a host of nieces and nephews.  Mrs. Crew was preceded in death by; her parents, her husband; and a son-in-law, Bert Anderson.  Memorials may be made in Mrs. Crew’s memory to: Whigham Baptist Church, P. O. Box 83, Whigham, GA, 39897.  The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Friday, December 27, 2013, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.  Guests may sign the online register at www.clarkfuneral.com. — Clark Funeral Home
