William “Bill” Miller, Sr.


THOMASVILLE — Funeral services for William “Bill” Alvin Miller, Sr., 87, of Cairo, GA, are at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, December 29, 2013, at Cairo First Baptist Church, Cairo, GA.  Dr. Ron McCaskill will officiate.  Interment will be private.  Mr. Miller passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2013, at Grady General Hospital, Cairo, GA.  Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Fishermen Sunday School Class.  Mr. Miller was born on October 2, 1926, in Miami, FL, to the late Herbert Alvin Miller and Ethel Watson Miller.  On September 26, 1947, he married Barbara Harrison Miller, who survives.  Mr. Miller served in the United States Marines.  He was a member of the Shriners, and a past member of Kiwanis Club.  He was a retired business owner.   “Mr. Bill” was well known for his love of the mountains, flea markets, wood-working and his dog, Dolly.  “Mr. Bill” was considered a “card” with a wonderful sense of humor.  Survivors include: his wife, Barbara H. Miller of Cairo, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca M. and Charles Prince, Sr. of Eufaula, AL, Karen M. and Larry R. Green of Cairo, GA, Teresa M. and Jeff Stevenson of Kennesaw, GA; son, William A. Miller, Jr., of Birmingham, AL; 12 grandchildren, and  20 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by: his parents; a daughter, Cynthia Miller Davis; grandson, Taylor A. Davis.  The family will receive friends at the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church from 1:30 p.m. until the funeral hour of 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 29, 2013.  Guests may sign the online register at — Clark Funeral Home
