THOMASVILLE — Services for Sylvia Cumbest Smith of Boston are at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at Summerhill Baptist Church where she was a member. The Rev. Ronald Kirkland, the Rev. Tim Phillips and the Rev. Mitch Clements will officiate and interment is in Boston City Cemetery. Mrs. Smith died Thursday, Jan. 2, at her residence. Born Nov. 17, 1932, in Barwick, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Robert E. Lee Cumbest Sr.  and Lona Irene McCann. On  March 27, 1952, in Barwick, Ga., she married James Harold Smith Sr. She attended Berry College for two years where she studied art and music. She was a retired office manager from Radiology Associates of Thomasville where she worked for 23 years. Survivors include her husband, James Harold Smith Sr. of Boston; son, James Harold (Jimmy) Smith Jr. and wife Nancy Carter Smith of Boston; daughter, Christie Deann Smith Thomas of Boston; grandchildren, Mandy Lynn Thomas Morrison (Jonathan) of Maryville, Tenn.; Natalie Brook Thomas of Boston; Justin Luke Thomas of Boston, James H. Smith III (Jay), Amy Banks Smith of Boston; great-grandchildren, McKenzie Lark Anderson of Boston; James H. Smith IV (Jake) of Boston, Jackson Colt Morrison of Maryville, Tenn. and Benjamin Luke Morrison of Maryville, Tenn. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Melody Lynne Smith; and a brother, Robert E. Lee Cumbest Jr. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
