Mary Surles Monk

THOMASVILLE —

Mary Surles Monk passed away Thursday, February 14, 2013 and went to be with her Lord. Mary was 96 years of age and soon to be 97. She was born on her family’s farm near Boston, GA. on March 21, 1916. She was the eldest of three children. Mary became a widow at a very young age when her husband died at the age of 40. Despite the tragic loss, she raised her two children and went on to have a happy life. She assisted her daughter Gloria in her Antique Shop for a number of years.  She is survived by two children; son, Ernest Monk and daughter Gloria Monk; grandchildren, Walton Monk of Tallahassee, FL and Shawn Monk of Destin, FL; great grandchildren, Hollin Monk, Megan Monk, Mitchell Monk of Tallahassee, FL and Hunter Labbie of Destin, FL.  Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, February 18, 2013 at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home, Timberlane Chapel.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity. — Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home
