Virginia Dix

THOMASVILLE — Services for Ms. Virginia Dix, of Thomasville,  are at 11 a.m.,  Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Shumate Street Church of Christ in Quitman. Eulogist is Brother Tony Herring. Virginia parted her life on March 20, at her residence. Ms. Dix was born on May 4, 1954, in Valdosta, Ga., at Moody Air Force Base. She is the daughter of the late Patricia Sanford-Biggers and Irving Biggers. She was proceeded in death by her mother; and two siblings, a sister, Constance Biggers; and a brother, Lindsey Baker. She was a member of House of Joy in Thomasville. She graduated from Essex County College in Newark, N.J., earning an associate's degree in early childhood education. She continued her education at Thomas University in Thomasville, earning a bachelor of science degree in social work. She was employed at the Division of Family and Children Services as a Social Worker until she became ill and was no longer able to work. She leaves to mourn three sons, David Dix (Diane) of Quitman, Christopher Dix (Kellie) of Thomasville, Jordan Dix (Sandra) of Valdosta; eight siblings, Sonja Oliver of Quitman, Maria Henry of Valdosta, Glorice Bradley of Valdosta, Michael Biggers of Miami, Fla., Abraham Sanford, John Sanford, Shawn (Maria) Sanford all of North Dakota, Stacey (James) of Brim, Texas.; grandchildren, Brittany White, Kevin (Chrystal) White, Tinishia Dix, Christopher Dix, Travoris Lane, Dion Hill, Davis D. Dix, Jordan Dix, Charday Dix, LaDaja Dix; two great-grandchildren, Isaiah White, Kevin K. White Jr. and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Family and friends will meet for line up at 9:45 a.m., at 204 Williams St. on Wednesday. Public viewing is from 1 to 8 p.m., today at the funeral home. — Hopkins Mortuary
