Robert Hilton (R.H.) Gwaltney

Funeral services for Mr. Robert Hilton (R.H.) Gwaltney, 84, of Thomasville will be held at 3:30 pm, Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Dr. Milton C. Gardner will officiate and interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Mr. Gwaltney passed away on Monday, December 24th.  Born January 16, 1928 in Reno, Georgia, R.H. spent most of his adult life in Thomasville, Georgia.  He served his country in the United States Army and Active Reserves.  He worked at Flowers Baking Company for 40 years in many different supervisory positions.  R.H. was a member of the American Legion and First Baptist Church Thomasville. He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Selene Wheless Gwaltney and her husband, Robert Spragins of Littleton, NC; step daughter-in-law, Connie Stanaland York and her husband, Hugh, of Cumming, GA; grandchildren, Bridget Gwaltney and Heather Gwaltney of Raleigh, NC, Ashley Gwaltney Covington and her husband Walker of Cary, NC, Stephanie York and Cory York of Cumming, GA; great-grandchildren, Dakota Lane Hancock and Rodney Cole Byrum of Raleigh, NC; Brothers and Sisters-in-law, Sarah Gainey of Tallahassee, FL, Beverly Stephens of Quincy, FL, John and Hazel Estridge of Thomasville, GA, and Neal and Barbara Stephens of Quincy, FL. He is preceded in death by his wives Marjorie Stephens Gwaltney and Mary Stanaland Gwaltney; his son, LTC(R) Larry Rodney Gwaltney; his parents, Gaston and Alice Gwaltney; his sister, Lila Gwaltney and brother, Steve Gwaltney. Visitation will be 2:30 - 3:30, one hour prior to the service at Allen & Allen Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church Thomasville, 210 North Broad Street, Thomasville, GA  31792.
