Rev. John Henry Miller


THOMASVILLE — The Rev. John Henry Miller, 89, of Moultrie, died Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Agape Health and Rehabilitation.Funeral services will be 4:00 P.M. Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Brad Bailey, Rev. Ken Anderson and Rev. Ken Burgess officiating.  Interment will be in Pinecrest Memory Gardens.  Born April 28, 1924 in Bemidji, Mn., he was the son of the late Esta A. Miller and Ottie Mae Miller.  He was a World War II Army veteran, serving in the Philippines, and was a graduate of Moody Bible Institute.  He and his first wife, the late Leota Miller, served as missionaries in Brazil for seven years.  He then pastored Independent Baptist Churches in Chicago Heights, Ill. area until he retired.  Twenty-nine years ago, after the death of his wife, he moved to Moultrie and married Lavada Mims Barry Zaiter.  He pastored Magnolia Baptist Church for some time, before retiring again.  After his second retirement, he wrote a book called “The Doctrine of Sovereign Election”.  He was currently a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Thomasville.  In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by his second wife, Lavada Mims Barry Zaiter Miller; eleven siblings; and two step-sons, Thomas Franklin Barry II and Tony Zaiter.  Survivors include two step-daughters, Brenda B. Bradley and husband Bill of Albany and Phyllis B. Fuches and husband Mike of Moultrie; seven step-grandchildren; seventeen step-great-grandchildren.  The family will greet friends from 3:30 P.M.-4:00 P.M.
