Emma Decosey Travis

THOMASVILLE —

Services for Emma Decosey Travis, 88, of Thomasville, are at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 17, 2012, at First Unity M.B. Church where she was a member. The Rev. Charlie Ross, pastor at First Unity M.B. Church, will officiate and interment  is in Peaceful Rest Cemetery. Pallbearers are sons, grandson and nephews. Mrs. Travis died March 11 at Golden Living Center. Born October 4, 1923, in Thomas County, Ga., she is the daughter of the late Eunice and Eddie Decosey. She attended the Thomas County School System and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church during her childhood. Survivors include a brother, Elijah Decosey of Waverly, Fla.; sister, Leola Decosey of Waverly, Fla.; sons, Benjamin Travis Jr., Robert Travis both of Thomasville; daughter, Emma (Travis) Bourne of Ochlocknee; son, Bill Travis of Thomasville; daughter, Dorothy (Daugherty) Davis of Tallahassee, Fla.; son, Woodrow Travis of Thomasville; daughter-in-law, Laurene Travis of Thomasville; son-in-law, Henri Davis of Tallahassee, Fla.; caregivers, staff of Golden Living Center in Thomasville; several cousins; 24 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The viewing is from 4 to 8 p.m., today at the funeral home. — Hatcher-Peoples Funeral Home
