Ruth Thomas Davis

THOMASVILLE — Services for Ruth Thomas Davis, 93, of Cairo, are at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at the chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo. The Rev. Ron McCaskill will officiate.  Services will conclude at the chapel.  Interment will be in Cairo Cemetery, Cairo. Mrs. Davis passed away on Monday, May 12, 2014. Born on Feb. 10, 1921, in Calvary, Ga., she was the daughter of the late George G. Thomas Sr. and Janie Lou Doss Thomas.  On March 31, 1943, she married James B. Davis Jr., who preceded her in death on Dec. 30, 2008.  She was a retired school teacher and a member of the First Baptist Church of Cairo. Survivors include a son, Jimmy of Cairo; brothers, Gerald Thomas of Calvary, Howell Thomas of Tampa, Fla.; and a sister, Thelma Taylor of Clearwater, Fla.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, George Thomas Jr., Bernard Thomas, Leland Thomas, Gene Thomas, Wayne Thomas, Winston Thomas; and a sister, Virginia Rosser. Memorials may be made in Mrs. Davis' memory to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1538, Cairo, Ga. 39828. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service.
