William A. Newman

THOMASVILLE — Funeral services for William A. Newman, 66, of Thomasville will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Thomasville.  Rev. Judy Jones-Keith will officiate services.  Mr. Newman was born on April 3, 1947 in St. Augustine, FL.  He was a graduate of Riverside Military Academy and went on to study Electrical Engineering for 2 years at Georgia Tech.  Mr. Newman went on the join the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War before being Honorably Discharged.  He would go on to work as a transport driver for Amerigas for 28 years.  Mr. Newman would later wed Mrs. Carolyn (Nita) Newman on November 9, 1997.  He was a life long resident of Thomasville and he died at his home on Thursday, September 19, 2013.  Survivors to cherish his memory include his wife Carolyn (Nita) Newman of Thomasville; daughters Jean Carolyn Blanche (Scott), Lori Ann Newman-Stilmack (Bruce), Angelic Watkins (Johnny), Charity Mcglamry; grandchildren Justin, Jayde, Shaina, Abbigail (Kevin), James Daniel, Dylan, Zackary, Miranda (Brandon), Jessi-Lyn (Alex), Michaela, Skyler, Christi (Jeremy); great-grandchildren Grace, Jordan, Lawson, Jonathan, Avery; sister Honorable Jeanne Dawes Manley (retired); father-in-law Charles (Helen) Coe; brother-in-law Carlos (Trish) Coe; sister-in-law Charlotte (Chris) Oliphant; best friend Sandra Day; numerous nephews, nieces, and two furry faithful companions Boo Boo and Gizmo.  He was preceded in death by his mother Jean Dawes Manley, sister Gladys Zapico, and mother in law Marian Coe.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Thomas or Hospice.  www.whiddonshiverfuneralhome.com — Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home
