Henry Donald “Don” Nichols

THOMASVILLE — Services for Henry Donald “Don” Nichols, 75, of Cairo, are at 3 p.m., Sunday, March 9, 2014, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Cairo. The Rev. Ronald Barrett, Pastor Mike Nichols and Pastor Phillip Cook will officiate. Services will conclude in the church. Interment is in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Mr. Nichols passed away at his home in Grady County, on Thursday, March 6. Mr. Nichols was born on March 23, 1938, in Ozark, Ala.,, to the late Virgil Leroy Nichols and Kizzy Hall Nichols.  He served his country in the National Guard.  On Aug. 28, 1959, he married Glinda Barrett Nichols, who survives.  He worked as an independent truck driver. Don was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Cairo and an active member of the North Florida Tres Dias. Survivors include his wife, Glinda Barrett Nichols of Cairo; son, Mike Nichols (Laura) of Cairo; daughters, Jennifer S. Turner of Cairo, Vonda Kay Nowell of Cairo; grandchildren, Michelle Godwin (Matthew) of Cairo, Rebecca Marchant (Josh) of Cairo, Levi Sutton of Cairo, Matthew Sutton of Cairo, Stephanie Griffin (Dusty) of Cairo, Nicholas Nowell, Blake Nowell, Brooke Nowell, Kayse Nowell, all of Cairo; great-grandchildren, Zoe, Heather, Peyton, Lucas, Ean, Logan, Clay and Jacob; brothers, Morris Nichols (Frances) of Thomasville, Jack Nichols (Sue) of Cairo; sister, Ruby Long (Junior) of Boston; and a numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Virgil Nichols and Glenward Nichols; and a sister, Gladys Griffis. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Nichols' memory to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 753, Cairo, Ga. 39828. The family will receive friends from 4 to 5:30 p.m., today at the funeral home. Guests may sign the online register at — Clark Funeral Home
