John A. Hartsfield Jr.

THOMASVILLE — Memorial services for John A. Hartsfield Jr., 82, of Cairo, are at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church, Cairo.  The Rev. Rick Turner will officiate.  Mr. Hartsfield passed away at Archbold Memorial Hospital on Saturday, March 1. Mr. Hartsfield was born on Feb. 9, 1932, in Meigs, to the late Dr. John A. Hartsfield Sr. and Nellie Marchman Hartsfield. He graduated from Emory University. After his father’s death, John farmed, built and ran the Old Store at Hartsfield Farms.  He retired as a counselor from Georgia Pines in Thomasville.  He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cairo.  Mr. Hartsfield dedicated his life to helping those who were less fortunate. He was preceded in death by his parents and his former wife and lifelong friend, Dr. Mariella Glenn Hartsfield. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Hartsfield's memory to: Wesley Glen Ministries, 4580 North Munford Rd., Macon, Ga. 31210.
