Lillie Ruth Smith Ryan

THOMASVILLE — Services for Lillie Ruth Smith Ryan of Boston, Ga., are at 11 a.m., Friday, March 14, 2014, at Boston Baptist Church where she was a member. The Rev. Tim Phillips and the Rev. Ronald Kirkland will officiate and interment is in Boston City Cemetery. Pallbearers are David Burns, Eddie Ryan, Alan Smith, Billy Wayne Smith, Lee Smith, Jimmy Smith, Mickey Cochran, Dickey Cochran, Chad Ryan and Brandon Ryan. Mrs. Ryan died Tuesday, March 11, at The Presbyterian Home in Quitman. Born July 31, 1927, in Barwick, Ga., she was the daughter of the late  Lewis Smith  and Carmel Hurst Smith. She maintained and managed the hunting lodge at Greenwood Plantation. On March 24, 1946, she married Allen Randle Ryan Sr.  who preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 2003. Survivors include her daughter, Gloria Gale Ryan (Paul Harrell) of Boston; a son, Allen Randle Jr. (Sherri Barnes) of Boston; grandsons, Chadwick Allen Ryan (Jennifer), Brandon Jerrell Ryan (Shelly) all of Thomasville; two great-grandchildren, Breanna Karen Ryan, Hunter Ray Ryan; brothers, James H. Smith, William “Billy” Smith, Laverne Smith (Kathryn) all of Boston; and a sister, Melba Cochran of Boston. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., today at the funeral home.
