Catherine ‘Cathy’ McCloud

Catherine “Cathy” McCloud, was born Oct. 13, 1958, to Ms. Fannie Smith and the late John Wesley McCloud Sr. She was affectionately known to all as “Sexy P.” She became a member at an early age at St. Luke A.M.E. Church in Barwick. She was dedicated to helping others and taking strangers in when they didn’t have a place to stay. She was very outgoing and brought so much joy and laughter to residents and to everyone who knew her. God called his angel home on March 5, 2014, to take her to rest where the wicked shall cease from troubling and the weary shall be at rest, where every day will be Sunday by and by. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Laquisha McCloud, and brother, John Wesley McCloud Jr. Ms. Cathy leaves to cherish her memories her loving mother, Fannie Smith, Moultrie; one daughter, Corienna Gosier, Thomasville; sons, Kendall Gosier and Elder Charles McCloud (Dawanna), all of Thomasville; grandchildren, Kadecia Herring, Detaveon Herring, Indanekwa Herring, Charnajh McCloud, Jonta Coston, Shirvantes McCloud; four sisters, Pamela Herring (LD), Cynthia Prather (Phillip), Helen Davis (Bobby), all of Thomasville, Louise Hill, Moultrie; one brother, Rev. Bobby McCloud (Shirley), Pavo; a special godchild, David Cannon; others include Kela Watson, Evelyn Herring, Rosetta Herring, Lyshanda Wyche, George Banks; aunts, Wessie Mae Brown and Lorene Jackson. She will be missed by other relatives, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends, such as Barbra “Brown Sugar” Jones and Jennifer Ferrell. Services will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at 3 p.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church in Barwick, with Pastor Charlie Dunbar presiding and Elder Charles McCloud officiating. Burial will follow in the Barwick Cemetery. Public viewing and visitation will be held on Friday, March 14, 2014, between the hours of 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. at the Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home in Quitman.
