Earlene Hampton Stephens

— Services for Earlene Hampton Stephens, Cairo, are at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Cairo, with the Rev. Alexander Mack and Representative Louise Williams Bishop officiating. Active pallbearers are David Peterson, Pete Sherman, Brian Donaldson, Herman Garland, Travis Hunter, Homer Sigler, Landis Rollins, Ladies Auxiliary and Legionnaires of American Legion Post # 544 and the Class of 1965 of Washington Consolidated High School. Mrs. Stephens died Saturday, March 8, 2014, at her residence. She was born in Grady County on Feb. 7, 1945, a daughter of Zema and Sarah Hampton. A lifelong Cairo resident, she was a child care provider. She was married to the late John Stephens and a graduate of Washington Consolidated High School in Cairo. She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary Elijah Franklin American Legion # 544 and Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Cairo. She is survived by sons, Darryl (Kimberly) Stephens, Thomasville, Stevie (Patricia) Stephens, Cairo, Victor (Imelda) Stephens Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo., Timothy Corker Jr., Cairo; daughters, Dethra Stephens, Cairo, Linda (Gregory) Stephens, Cairo, Brenda Stephens, Cairo; stepdaughter, Torey Miller, Albany; sisters, Representative Louise Williams Bishop, Lovetta (J.D.) Stephens, Cairo, Eva (Willie Sr.) Myles, Cairo, Bertha (Bernard) Fisher, Wilmington, Del., Edna Lois (Earl) Timbers, Philadelphia, Pa., Barbara Jones, Columbia, Va.; brothers, Terry Hampton, Cairo, Jerry (Angela) Hampton, Cairo; brothers-in-law, Vanaster (Edith) Williams, Cairo, Curly B. (Barbara) Williams, Cairo, Joseph Stephens, Cairo, John L. (Dorothy) Stephens, Cairo, John L. (Dorothy) Stephens; sisters-in-law, Barbara Jean (Kenny) Corker, Cairo, Doris (Carl Lee) Tucker, Cairo, Terry (Jackie) Stephens, Newark, N.J.; godchildren, Angela K. Arbeary, Cairo, Christopher (LaFaye) Thompson, Cairo; friends, Lisa Lester, Cairo, Jimmy (JT) Tise, Cairo, Betty Baker, Cairo; 22 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Zema Hampton Jr., Edward Hampton and a sister, Ethel Boyd.
