Emmitt Jeffery McMillan Jr.

— Graveside services for Emmitt “Papa” Jeffery McMillan Jr., of Thomasville, are at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Peaceful Rest Cemetery. The Rev. Jeremy Rich, pastor of First Missionary Baptist Church, Thomasville, will officiate. Mr. McMillan died March 5, Born Jan. 20, 1959, he was a son of the late Emmitt Sr. and Ruth McMillan of Thomasville. Born under amazing and unique circumstances, his life was filled with love from all that crossed his path. His smile was contagious and could brighten even the darkest day. He loved his family, his cheese puffs and his rocking chair. Survivors include four sisters, Dale Adams, Minister Elaine Lewis-Geter, Zane Goldwire of Thomasville, Barbara Tyler of Waldorf, Md.; three brothers, Lucious Jean Suton, Nathan Lewis of Albany, Nathaniel Lewis of Richmond, Va.; an aunt, Ruby Kurt Jones Gaskin; an uncle, Hamp McMillan both of Thomasville; special niece, Taneesha Hargrow of Thomasville; and niece, Carol Gude Parker of Bear, Del. Papa was blessed with 24 nieces, nephews, numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends including the staff at Oak Street DD Home. He was preceded in death by both parents; and two brothers, Felix McMillian Sr. and Marcin Gude Sr. Family and friends are asked to assemble at 10 a.m., Saturday, at 726 South St., for the processional. The viewing is from 1 to 8 p.m., today at the funeral home. — Hadley’s Funeral Home
