Anthony Leroy Tucker, 66, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at home in Jesup, GA.  Anthony was born on November 11, 1946 in Thomasville, GA to the late Henry Wallace Tucker and Bobbie Griffin Gates and was a graduate of Thomasville High School.  He and his family have lived in Jesup, GA for the past 47 years and he was a member of Anderson Drive Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher.  While retired, he continued to be involved in his community where he was serving as Manager of the Fairhaven Battered Women’s Shelter and as a Director on the Board of Hospice of South Georgia.  Anthony had a great love for children.  He and his wife, Pat served as Foster Parents for many children through the years.  His grandchildren were the light of his life and he loved spending time with his family.  He enjoyed cooking and had become well known for his Key Lime cakes.  He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patricia “Pat” Tucker of Jesup; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lu Ann and Kevin Poppell of Odum, GA; Amy and OJ “Jay” Edwards of Mt. Pleasant, GA; brother W. Gary (Betty) Tucker, mother-in-law, Lout Battley and sister-in-law, Louise Yale all of Thomasville, GA; five grandchildren, Matthew Poppell, Maggie Poppell, Mallorie Poppell, Alexis Westberry and Austin Edwards as well as two great-grandchildren, Kayden Grace Poppell and Emileigh Westberry.  Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.  Services were held January 19th at Anderson Drive Baptist Church with Rev. John Brown presiding.  Interment followed at Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery in Jesup.  Remembrances may be made to the Anderson Drive Baptist Church, 260 Anderson Drive, Jesup, GA 31545.
