Services for Edna Juanita Palmer Surles of Thomasville will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 21, 2012 at Victory Baptist Church.  Rev. Gary Holland will be officiating services with interment to follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be David Huckans, Chris Huckans, Daniel Surles, John Surles, Wandell Hobbs and Robbie Singletary.  Ms. Surles was born on November 15, 1923 in Meigs to the late Arthur Melton Palmer and Mattie Elizabeth Stanaland.  She was a member of Victory Baptist Church and a graduate of Meigs High School where she was a member of the girls basketball team for 4 years.  Ms. Palmer, as she was known before marriage, wed Mr. Burroughs “Ben” N. Surles on June 6, 1942 and their union would continue until the time of his passing on July 22, 1986.  Ms. Surles worked for the Spinning Department at Coats & Clark for 28 years until the time of her retirement.  She departed this life on Monday, December 18, 2012 at Archold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville.  Survivors to cherish her memory include her son Donnie Surles (Barbara) of Coolidge; daughter Linda Faye Huckans (Robert) of Thomasville; 4 grandsons David Huckans, Chris Huckans, Daniel Surles and John Surles; 3 great-grandchildren Grace Coalson Huckans, Hunter Douglas Surles and Isabella Marie Surles; brother Leo Palmer of Thomasville; sisters Evelyn Alligood of Cairo and Margie Griffin of Thomasville; several nieces and nephews and special friends Mr. and Mrs. Hicks.  The family would like to thank Rev.
