“To the Times-Enterprise: Please explain why you pulled ‘Beetle Bailey.’ As long as I can remember, I've read it. My subscription renewal is riding on your answer."
EDITOR’S NOTE: The move was a matter of economics. Like many households and businesses, the newspaper has been forced to make difficult decisions because of unexpected high fuel prices and other concerns. ‘Beetle Bailey’ costs more than other comics.
“There is not a body of water deep enough or wide enough in Thomas County for a shark to live in."
“To those people who don't want us to drill offshore for oil: Try putting a mullet in your gas tank and see how well your car runs."
“To the people in charge of the schools: They did not make a very good decision about Friday's school opening. The kids went to school and left early. Think about how much fuel has been wasted just so the schools can say they were open. Are they not worried about safety?”
“I bet the person who complained about Bainbridge being in the paper is a Central fan. All they do is whine, yet all you see in the paper is Central stories. You never see anything about Thomasville.”
“It’s a shame our schools are the only ones in the area that did not close.”
“Who cares what Bainbridge thinks? All I care about Bainbridge is that gas is $3.39 there.”
