GUEST OPINION: Gentlemen, honor oath to Constitution

I am deeply alarmed by the actions of our president and his failure to uphold our Constitution, our Bill of Rights and the laws of our great nation. Each one of you took the following oath, cited below, to support and defend the Constitution of the United States.

"I, ( name ) do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

Over the past six years, our president has utterly failed to obey the oath of office which he took upon becoming our president. In the oath that each one of you took, you also swore to obey the president of the United States. However, when the president fails to obey his oath to defend our Constitution, I respectfully suggest to each of you that it is your duty to our great nation to take those actions to so inform the president that unless he immediately adheres to his oath that he volunteer to step down from office or other action will be immediately forthcoming to remove him from office.

Such an action is unprecedented in the long and glorious history of our nation, but the time has now come that such action is needed to save the United States of America and our historical way of life under our laws.

In our Declaration of Independence, and I quote, “--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among men (and women ), deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That when any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”  This historic document further states, “But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariability the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.”

I submit to you, the members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, that our beloved nation has now reached this point under our current president.  I am certainly not suggesting that we abolish our great Constitution; however, other like-minded citizens and I are suggesting that our president be immediately removed from office UNLESS he changes his ways of governing. 

As the highest-ranking officers in our nation’s military organization, you have stood by and allowed some of your top fellow officers to be removed from military duty.  Have you stood up for these officers against a president who dislikes the military establishment? Our military strength has been so reduced that we can no longer field armies strong enough to engage in two major wars at the same time, should the need arise. Our veterans are — which they earned and have legal rights to receive. Have you forgotten them? Most recently we have learned that while our soldiers are on the battle fields risking their very lives for our freedoms they are being given “pink slips.” Is this how the Joint Chiefs of Staff build moral?  How crass can you gentlemen be? 

Are you officers more concerned about your careers, your military status now that you have reached the pinnacle of your careers, than defending the oath that each of you took to uphold our Constitution?  Each of you were once dedicated military men with great leadership skills, intelligence  and a commitment to the United States of America to defend us against enemies both foreign AND domestic.  Each one of you could step down now and enjoy generous pensions which you truly deserve or you could do your duty to this country and stand up and put an end to the internal destruction of our nation. Our Patriot Fathers risked their property, fortunes, and yes, even their very lives to build this nation. What are you gentlemen willing to risk?

 We always hear military and political figures speak about the future of our children. Yet what are any of you, or anyone else, doing to secure their future?  Is this only wind blowing in the air?

Across this nation, people are reaching a boiling point that could well result in a peaceful march on Washington, D.C. All that the American people want is that our Constitution and laws be followed. Should such a march happen, it is my deepest prayer that American troops and police would not be ordered to beat nor fire upon their fellow Americans.
