Rant & Rave for March 7

— “Let’s stop trying to convince racists and bigots that Barack Obama is a good president. They won’t accept it, and neither will the children they are raising.”

“Those are three very good articles on Wednesday’s editorial page. I especially agree with Mr. Plymale’s letter to the editor. It really bares some thought as to what this could do in regards to straightening out the difficulties in our government.”

“It’s not the number of executive orders. It the kind of executive orders and the in-your-face attitude that Obama has that says, ‘I am going to do what I want to do and there is nothing you can do about it.’”

“An arts district downtown? We already have an arts district at the Center for the Arts. You let the arts people take over downtown and you will lose your historic quality. Be aware.”

“I urge everyone to go to Thomasvillearts.org under the tab ‘Community’ and then ‘Creative Placemaking’ and read about the proposed art district. It sounds like a hippy commune! The proposal calls for an ‘urban parlor’ with a ‘community kitchen’ and ‘organic gardens,’ ‘creative co-working’ spaces, ‘open art studios’ and ‘artists in residence.’ Really? Who is paying for all of this? This plan will be the death-nail of our vital and thriving beautiful downtown.”

“What a lovely bunch of girls on the front page trying to be the Rose Queen. There is not a loser in the bunch. I wish they could make all of them the Rose Queen.”
