THOMASVILLE — The Thomas County Central boys soccer team rolled through Region 1-AAAA this season.
The Yellow Jackets were rewarded for that dominance, placing six on the all-region first team — led by defensive player of the year in keeper Chip Sanders and offensive player of the year in forward Montavious Diaz.
Coach Jonathan Carroll was the region’s top coach for guiding Central to a 16-1-1 record and a berth in a state semifinal.
Sanders notched 10 shutouts on the season, including two in the postseason. The senior will play at Davidson next season.
Diaz, a sophomore, tallied 22 goals and dished out five assists.
Other first-team selections were defenders Ethan Vick (Georgia Southwestern signee) and Duran Corbitt (Thomas University signee) and midfielders Jeremy Parrish and Garrett Newsome (Virginia Military Institute signee).
Midfielders Matt Sampson and Josh Choice and defender Nathan Donalson were named honorable mention.
