Central locker room gets fresh look

Clint Thompson

THOMASVILLE — Thomas County Central’s locker room has gotten a facelift.

The new look is drawing rave reviews.

“It looks pretty nice,” said Central sideline reporter and booster club member Jamie Majors. “Everything’s good and clean. It looks really good.”

Central first-year football coach Bill Shaver added: “We did a little bit of painting. We’ve done a little bit. Not a whole lot of big renovations, just a lot of touch-up painting and stuff.”

Central’s new-look locker room features fresh paint, the T-C logo in the middle of the floor and a Yellow Jacket on the wall.

“There wasn’t any structural changes, just cosmetic changes,” Shaver noted.

The credit for Central’s remodeling can go to the members of its booster club.

“I had some booster club members and some parents, friends and all that, that did some painting and stuff on it,” Shaver said. “It just made it look a lot nicer.

“They weren’t going to give us any money for structural changes. So we just made some cosmetic changes and tried to make it look a little bit nicer.

“I think it was pretty much needed.”

Along with the remodeling inside the locker room, the hallway outside of Shaver’s office is noticeably different. A fresh coat of blue and gold paint now lines the walls as do pictures of former players that have gone on to play collegiately, and in some cases, in the NFL. Also on Shaver’s ‘Wall of Fame’ are banners from some of Central’s past state title teams. It’s a way Central can feature its rich and storied football history.

“It makes it something that they can be proud of,” Shaver noted.
