THOMASVILLE — After sophomore Curtis Brooks left Friday night’s 35-7 win at Lee County with a shoulder injury, Thomas County Central’s coaches were gameplanning on how to replace the sophomore.
However, Brooks suffered just a severe shoulder bruise.
“He’s going to be OK,” Central coach Bill Shaver said. “First off, you don’t know how he’ll react because a running back relies on his shoulder. It was really sore (Saturday) morning.
“He’ll go to therapy all week and we’ll see how it progresses.”
Still, as the Yellow Jackets (5-1, 4-0 in Region 1-AAAA) traveled back to Thomasville on Friday, Shaver admitted to wondering who would replace Brooks, who led the team with 402 rushing yards entering the Lee County game.
“We’d probably play a combination of the other ones, because there’s not one that can do everything like Curtis can,” Shaver said. “Curtis has kind of turned into the complete package.”
Sophomore linebacker Toby Eaton also was injured Friday, spraining a knee.
