Lee County brings a different defense every year.
And Thomas County Central’s Adam Choice delivers the same result — a huge rushing night.
With the Class AAAAA No. 8 Trojans (6-0, 1-0 in Region 1-AAAAA) visiting Thomas County Stadium for an 8 p.m. kick today, Choice — the senior quarterback for the No. 6 Yellow Jackets (6-1, 2-0) — has already churned out 640 yards in his career against them.
“I’ve just been trying to take what the defense gives me,” said Choice, who rushed for 149 yards and two touchdowns on just eight carries as a freshman when he backed up Eric Dodson and played just the second half at quarterback.
“I just try to make the most out of every opportunity I get to carry the ball. They mix it up every year, but it’s just every opportunity I’ve had to keep the ball, something big happened — we got on all our blocks and I was able to make a lot out of that play. But it’s different every year. You never know what to expect out of them.”
That performance, and Dodson’s 142 yards on nine carries in the first half, was a result of a faulty scheme according to Central coach Bill Shaver, who could pick up career win No. 50 today.
