Dogs' Murray leaves Kentucky game with knee injury

ATHENS — Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray left Saturday night's game against Kentucky with a left knee injury and will not return.

Georgia announced after halftime that Murray, a senior, would not return for the second half of his final home game.

Murray threw four touchdown passes in the first half Saturday, but was limping in the second quarter following a 28-yard run. He was hit by defensive end Za'Darius Smith late in the half following a pass that was intercepted by Khalid Henderson.

Murray had to be helped off the field. He was unable to put pressure on the leg and was taken to the Georgia locker room with 2:17 remaining in the half.

Hutson Mason took over for Murray and threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to Todd Gurley, giving Georgia a 35-10 lead. Mason opened the second half as the Bulldogs' quarterback.

Murray holds Southeastern Conference records for career completions, yards passing, total offense and touchdown passes.

There was no immediate report on the status of Kentucky starting quarterback Jalen Whitlow, who left the game in the first quarter with an apparent injury and did not return. Maxwell Smith, who has shared time with Whitlow, took over for the Wildcats.
