Lady Jackets routed

THOMASVILLE — Thomas County Central's girls had a rough start to its 2012 Holiday Hoopfest experience.

Playing in Thomasville High's annual tournament, the Lady Jackets fell behind 36-16 at halftime to Redan, were outscored 26-10 in the third quarter and lost on Thursday 73-35.

Central (3-5) will play in the consolation bracket today at 10 a.m. against Bainbridge. Redan advanced to the semifinal round today at 4 p.m. against Brunswick.

Brea Elmore paced the Raiders' offensive attack with 22 points, which included three made 3-pointers. Jamese Abney added 15 and Fatia Sams tallied 12. Chelsea McIntyre scored 10 points to lead the Lady Jackets. Teammate Brittany Grimes added seven, and Tytianna Herring scored five for the Lady Jackets.

Central managed just two field goals in the opening quarter, both by McIntyre.
