Brookwood still searching for next football coach

THOMASVILLE — The search continues for the Brookwood Warriors’ next football coach.

Brookwood Board of Directors Chairman Bill Hodges confirmed to the Times-Enterprise a search committee has yet to find Robert East’s replacement.

“We’ve given word out that we’re looking,” Hodges said. “We’ll start seriously interviewing here shortly and go from there.

“I’ve heard there’s been a lot of interest.”

East, Brookwood’s football coach the previous four seasons, resigned from his position as Brookwood’s football coach and athletic director on Dec. 10. Almost a month later, the Warriors are still searching for a new football chief.

“Basically, we’re in the middle of the search. We’re interviewing and talking to people,” Hodges said. “Soon as we find the right person we’ll make an announcement. We’re trying to get somebody as soon as we can. We want to make sure that we get the right person.

“There’s always a balance between potential and experience and what’s available on the market,” Hodges added. “I hope we’ll have an announcement here within the next few weeks. We’d like to have somebody fairly soon if we could, but only if it’s the right one.”
