Center of attention

THOMASVILLE — At 6-foot-8, Rand Malone is the center of attention for the Brookwood Warriors.

With his size, Malone is an imposing presence for competition in the GISA. Malone scores, rebounds and blocks with great efficiency. He is a big reason the Warriors started the season 6-3.

“He's come a long way from his freshman year to where he is now,” said Brookwood coach Brad Piazza. “He's averaging right at 15 points per game. He's just been so big inside that when we go to our zone, we can put a little bit more pressure on the shooters because we know we've got him inside. He's averaging about four blocks a game. He alters a lot of shots inside.”

Piazza knew early in Malone's career the type of player he could become. Malone has not disappointed
