Yellow Jackets, Bryant beat Tigers in thriller

THOMASVILLE — After a handful of heartbreaking losses, the Thomas County Central finally pulled out a late-game win Saturday.

Austin Bryant hit the game-tying layup in the final seconds while being fouled and then stepped to the line and knocked down the go-ahead free throw to lift the Yellow Jackets past visiting Harris County 57-56. Central already has five losses by four points or less including consecutive one-point defeats to rivals Thomasville and Cairo earlier this month.

Bryant scored 15 points for Central, which moved to 5-14, 1-3 in Region 1-AAAAA. The Jackets' top scorer was Chris Jones with 24.
