Thomas hoops downs No. 6 Embry-Riddle

Night Hawks earn first win over ranked opponent

THOMASVILLE — Thomas University earned its most monumental win since the hoops program re-emerged last October with a 96-74 victory over defending Sun Conference champion and No. 6 Embry-Riddle.

It was the Night Hawks’ first win over a ranked team in their new era of basketball.

Thomas governed the Embry-Riddle attack for nearly the entire game, building and extending it’s lead for the final 30-plus minutes while holding the Eagles to just 40 percent shooting. The Night Hawks notched 67 percent of their shots, including a season high 59 percent three pointers (10 of 17) by virtue of Justyn Watkins and Adonai Agard, who each had three.

Thomas will look to build of the virtuous victory when it heads to Ave Maria this weekend. The Night Hawks (13-9, 6-6) have six games remaining, including Saturday’s contest with the Gyrenes.
